Jas 1:9-11 Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
It was really a wonderful message that Pastor German delivered during the Easter Sunday joint fellowship. He said, "God did not bring us here in Qatar just so He can bless us. The blessing of God is not dependent on location. He can bless us in the City and He can bless us in the Field. God has brought us here for a purpose." This message I believe has a special touch to them who, like me, got born again when they got here. A testimony that is most common here in the Middle East. And if one should reflect on that, it is easy to see that God has something in mind that is why He brought us here.
That passage above in the book of James is really very hard to comprehend in its simplicity. But what is very clear is that our material possessions affect our position with God. The brother of low degree is exalted and the rich is made low. I looked up that word exalted in the greek and it can figuratively mean as dignity. And so the one who has less is actually of higher dignity before God than the one who has more. Think about priorities. We are not here to just increase ourselves in material possessions and in prosperity. Those things easily wither as the flower of the field. But think about what that brother of low degree has that makes him exalted before God.
