I was listening to 1Peter today and I came across this Scripture:
1Pe 4:10 KJV As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
This again puts into light the Doctrine of Irresistible Grace. I've once posted on Life BS Group that there is no such thing as irresistible grace, citing:
Eph 3:2 KJV If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
We know from Scripture, that the Lord does not force Himself to people. When people didn't want Him to enter their city, He peacefully went away.
By dispensation it means, administration or stewardship. And Paul is saying that the dispensation of the grace of God was given to him for his ministry towards the Gentiles. And 1Pe 4:10 confirms that every believer is a steward of the manifold grace of God. And we are to minister the grace that we have received one to another.
I believe this is a principle that God has set up, that His grace, through the Gospel should be distributed, or to be dispensed with into all the world, by His Church, by His people.
This reminds me of the parable of the talents. All the servants received of the talent, but one of them just hid it and produced nothing out of it. I believe that as good stewards of the manifold grace of God, the Master expects us to produce something out of what was entrusted to us. We are not to keep it for ourselves only but we have a responsibility to share it to others. I believe this is the idea of the Gospel. When we share the Gospel, we dispense with or distribute to others the manifold grace of God. This is how the Kingdom works. And so let us not be slack, but rather let us be good stewards that when the Master comes, He will say to us, Well done good and faithful servant.
