The Apostle Paul has constantly and strongly advocated this to the Jews because the Jews found it hard to get out of that mentality in the Law that unless they perform according to the law, there will be no blessing. And religion has taught us that too. Religion has taught us that we have to work for our own salvation. That we have to earn it by good works.
And so for many Christians it is hard to get out of that mentality also! On one hand Christians believe that they are not going to hell because they receive the salvation of the sacrifice of Christ. But on the other hand, they work their butt off to earn a living, and are most cautious not to misappropriate even the smallest portion of their hard earned pay! I find that ironic.
We receive salvation by faith but the prosperous life that comes with it, we want to earn by the works of our hand. We subscribe to financial management more than to God's promises. But how far can you get with financial management? Say you have your income right now, how much of it can you save? And just how far can you get with those savings? That wouldn't be too far would it? If you see me driving my own car next year, would that mean that i am excellent with financial management? Would financial management get you a new car? or a new house back in the Philippines? Well to some extent it would get you somewhere. But it is truly with the INCREASE that we receive from God that we are able to acquire these things. It is when we receive INCREASE from God that we move from a lower life to a higher life! Take Pastor Richard for example, see him 2 years back, and see him now. Is it because of his financial management skills that is why he is where he is right now? Certainly not. It is because God gave him INCREASE!
The Word of God says, "work out your own salvation." And notice how it says "work out" not "work for." That is telling us to grow in the Word of God because that is where our salvation is. God has blessed us with all SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS! That is where the blessing is! We must work ourselves up to spiritual things, to things that pertain to God! When we get there, these things will just start to flow.
We don't need to break our brains on how best to stretch our budgets! That's the deception of the devil! He wants us trapped in that condition. But let us lift our heads up and see all things are new now! Let the poor say I am rich! Just say it my dear brother, my dear sister! Let the weak say I am strong! Just say it my dear brother, my dear sister! The more that you want to put a balance between worldly things and the things of God, the more that you will get off balanced!
